Flight Lesson 1
Preflight and Orientation - Dual

Dual 1.0 Hour (all approximate)
Pre/Postflight 1.0 Hour (all approximate)

Objective:
The student will become familiar with preflight inspection, checklists, use of flight controls and their effect on taxiing and in-flight.
Introduce the four basic maneuvers (climbs, descents, turns, straight-and-level) by both visual (VR) and instrument (IR) references.

1. Preflight inspection and examination of aircraft documents.
2. Controls: their effect on the ground and in the air.
3. Starting procedures
4. Taxi
5. Pre-takeoff check.
6. Individual control functions and effect.
7. Four basics: VR and IR.
8. Trimming the aircraft.
9. Collision Avoidance.
10. Sectional chart introduction.
11. Traffic pattern departure and entry.

Completion Standards:

Altitude +/-200 feet, Airspeed +/-20 knots, Heading +/-20 degrees.
